Alexandria Township, New Jersey
Alexandria is a spacious rural township in northwestern Hunterdon County, shaped by preserved farmland, historic crossroads villages, equestrian life, local farms and vineyards, and scenic roads connecting Pittstown, Little York, Mount Pleasant, Everittstown and the Milford/Frenchtown area.
European settlement began in the early 1700s. The township was established in 1765 from Bethlehem Township and was incorporated in 1798. Its name traces to James Alexander, a prominent colonial surveyor and New Jersey attorney general who acquired a large tract here in 1744.
