Garage & yard sales in Bogota
Bogota's current zoning code specifically permits residential garage sales while limiting how often and how long they may operate from the same property.
A residential garage sale may run for no more than three days.
No more than two garage sales may be conducted from the same residential premises during one calendar year.
Bogota's litter-control rules require posted event/garage-sale signs to be removed within 72 hours after the event.
The zoning exception is intended for garage sales conducted by occupants on residential premises.
Do not assume a sign may be attached anywhere.
Bogota's code specifically addresses garage-sale and other event signs placed on telephone poles, stop signs, trees and other publicly owned areas and requires timely removal. Use safe, lawful sign placement and confirm current Borough rules before posting.
A current Bogota community bulletin advertises a Bogota High School Band town-wide garage sale for Saturday, October 3, with October 4 identified as the rain date. Participation details should be confirmed with the organizers before registering or shopping.
Bogota's zoning code separately allows certain sidewalk and nonprofit/philanthropic outdoor sales when the applicable Borough permit is obtained.
An NJTGO item-for-sale post is not a substitute for complying with Borough requirements when a seller conducts an in-person residential sale event.
Lost pets & animal notices
Bogota residents can use a community post to help reunite a lost animal, but official animal-control and licensing channels should also be used.
Bogota requires licensing for dogs of licensing age. The code calls for annual licensing in January and requires a newly acquired dog of licensing age to be licensed within 10 days.
Bogota's animal code requires current rabies vaccination for dogs and cats, subject to limited age or veterinary exemptions.

include a clear photo, general location, date last seen and a safe contact method. Avoid publishing unnecessary household details. For a stray, injured animal, bite or immediate animal-safety issue, contact the appropriate public agency.

How to prepare a useful classified
“Dining table — Main Street area” is more useful than simply “For sale.”
Include condition, size, age, quantity, model and important defects or missing pieces.
Use a broad Bogota location rather than publishing an exact home address.
State the asking price, “free,” “wanted,” or whether reasonable offers will be considered.
Provide only the contact method needed to arrange the transaction.
Once an item is sold, found or no longer available, ask NJTGO to remove the listing.

To keep the marketplace appropriate for a local town-guide audience, NJTGO may reject, edit or remove listings that are unsafe, unlawful, deceptive or better suited to another section.

Submitting a Bogota classified
A useful submission should include a concise title, category, accurate description, general Bogota location, asking price if applicable and a safe contact method. Garage-sale notices should include dates, hours and rain information.
Give enough detail for another resident to decide whether the item or notice is relevant.
The listing should have a genuine Bogota connection and should not be bulk commercial advertising disguised as a personal post.
Tell NJTGO when an item is sold, a pet is found or a notice has expired.
