A New Jersey drag-racing landmark operating since 1960. The track hosts eighth- and quarter-mile racing, nostalgia events, bracket racing, truck shows and other special events from spring into late fall.
A scenic regional trail passes through Liberty Township along the Jenny Jump ridge, linking local hiking with a broader Warren County route toward Hope and other Highlands destinations.
Independence Township
Community recreation complex with fields and a walking path. It is more of a local recreation stop than a tourist attraction, but useful for families visiting for sports or looking for an easy walk.
Mountain Lake
Mountain Lake is Liberty Township's signature natural feature and one of the most distinctive visitor experiences in the combined guide.
Swimming
Explore Warren's 2026 summer listing gives Mountain Lake beach hours of 11 a.m.–6 p.m. through Labor Day. Swim only in the designated area during permitted hours and follow current lifeguard and township rules.
Boating & Launch
Liberty Township maintains public access to Mountain Lake through a boat launch on Lakeside Drive West. The current launch fee is $5. Gas-powered motors are prohibited.
Fishing & Birding
The lake and surrounding watershed provide opportunities for fishing, paddling, wildlife viewing and relaxed shoreline scenery.
John R. Fisher Pavilion
The township pavilion sits next to the beach and boat launch and is available for permitted use. Parking must remain in designated areas and cannot block beach or boat-ramp access.
Lake rules matter: Mountain Lake is also a residential community and protected watershed. Visitors should use designated public facilities, respect private property, follow parking rules and avoid assuming that every shoreline area or dock is public.
Island Dragway
For motorsports fans, Island Dragway is the area's strongest destination attraction and one of Warren County's best-known specialty venues.
New Jersey racing history: Island Dragway was established in 1960 on former farmland in Great Meadows and remains under Kowalick-family stewardship. It hosts drag racing, test-and-tune, special events and private track rentals. The track currently describes its racing season as running from March through November.

Check the current event schedule, gate times, admission rules and weather status before traveling. Racing schedules are especially weather-sensitive.
For Racers
Track and NHRA safety requirements can vary by vehicle and elapsed time. Verify current technical, helmet, clothing and vehicle requirements before arriving to race.

Warren Highlands Trail
Warren County trail guidance identifies parking along the Liberty Township section near Lakeside Drive West and at additional trail crossings including Hissam Road and Lake Just-It Road.
Jenny Jump Connection
The Warren Highlands Trail continues through the Jenny Jump area, allowing a Liberty visit to connect naturally with hiking, camping and astronomy in nearby Hope.
Field of Dreams Walking Path
Independence Township provides a walking-path map and directions to its Field of Dreams recreation complex off Cemetery Road.
Country-Road Scenery
Great Meadows, Vienna and Liberty retain strong rural character. Scenic drives are rewarding, but walkers and cyclists should remember that many roads are narrow and lack sidewalks or shoulders.
Farm Markets & Seasonal Stops
A visitor guide to Great Meadows would be incomplete without agriculture. Farms and greenhouses make especially good add-on stops during summer and fall.

Parking, Driving & Getting Around
A car is the practical way to explore the shared guide. Route 46 is the main east-west commercial corridor, while Mountain Lake Road, Hope Road, Cemetery Road and local county roads connect recreation and rural destinations.
Island Dragway
Use venue-designated parking and follow event-day traffic directions. Special events can draw substantially more traffic than a normal day in Great Meadows.
Mountain Lake
Park only in designated areas. Pavilion rules specifically prohibit blocking the boat ramp, beach access or ingress/egress and prohibit parking on grass areas.
Trail Parking
Use the parking locations identified in the Warren Highlands Trail guide rather than improvised roadside parking. Narrow rural roads can make unsafe parking especially problematic.
Farm Stops
Farm and greenhouse parking can be seasonal and informal. Follow posted directions and avoid blocking working farm access.
When to Visit
Island Dragway's season begins, greenhouses fill with plants and the rural landscape comes back to life. Good for racing weekends, farm stops and hiking.
The strongest Mountain Lake season, with swimming and boating, farm produce, outdoor recreation and a full motorsports calendar.
Excellent for foliage around Mountain Lake and Jenny Jump, farm-market visits, cool-weather hiking and late-season Island Dragway events.
A quieter rural season suited to scenic drives and nearby year-round Jenny Jump shelters. Confirm road, trail and weather conditions before outdoor travel.

Start at Mountain Lake for swimming, paddling or a lakeside visit, then stop for a Great Meadows meal or farm-market purchase on the way home.
