Visiting & Lodging

Kingwood is best experienced as a rural driving-and-outdoors destination: preserved farms, stream valleys, Delaware River access, trails and quiet historic crossroads.

Outdoor destinations

Kingwood Township Park

200 Union Road

Ball fields, playground, picnic area, pavilion, bocce and a roughly one-mile loop trail along Lockatong Creek.

Horseshoe Bend Park

Horseshoe Bend Road

About 800 acres with roughly 11 miles of trails, sweeping rural views, woods, streams, horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking and a leash-free dog area.

Bulls Island Recreation Area

Route 29 at the Kingwood / Delaware Township line

Delaware River, canal and D&R Canal trail access with fishing and natural-area recreation.

Kingwood Access

Route 29 south of Frenchtown

Boat launch and access point for the Delaware River and adjacent trail corridor.

Muddy Run Preserve

Township open space

A short local trail and preserved stream/woodland setting for low-key hiking.

Copper Creek & Idell preserves

Multiple township locations

Additional preserved lands that reinforce Kingwood's farm-and-forest character.

Trail safety: Regulated hunting occurs seasonally in some Kingwood open-space properties. Follow posted notices, use designated parking and consider blaze orange during overlapping hunting seasons.

Historic & rural character

Baptistown crossroads

The intersection of Routes 12 and 519 is the township's best-known historic community center and a useful orientation point.

Delaware River corridor

Route 29 provides scenic access along Kingwood's western edge, with river and D&R Canal trail opportunities.

Farms & nurseries

Kingwood's agricultural landscape includes active farms, seasonal plant nurseries and farm-oriented businesses that make the drive part of the experience.

Lodging

No traditional hotel or bed-and-breakfast has been clearly verified within Kingwood Township itself. Visitors who want overnight accommodations will generally find more choices in nearby Frenchtown, Clinton-area communities and the wider Delaware River region.

Before booking: A Frenchtown or Stockton mailing address does not necessarily identify the municipality. Check the property's actual location if staying close to a specific Kingwood attraction.
