Netcong classifieds are designed for community-scale buying and selling, wanted and free items, garage and yard sales, neighborhood notices, lost-and-found posts, pet notices, lessons, celebrations and other appropriate personal listings.
Jobs, full property advertising and recurring commercial promotion belong on Netcong's dedicated Jobs, Real Estate and Business pages rather than in the general classifieds feed.

Garage & yard sales in Netcong
Netcong requires a borough permit before holding a garage or yard sale. The borough's current public guidance sets several clear limits.
Apply at Borough Hall several days before the sale and receive the required permit.
A person or location generally may receive no more than two garage-sale licenses in a twelve-month period.
Each licensed sale may run no more than two consecutive calendar days.
Official legal & public notices
Beginning March 1, 2026, Netcong's official website became the publication location for borough legal and public notices under New Jersey's electronic-publication law. NJTGO community classifieds are not a substitute for legally required notices.
Lost pets & animal control
For a lost, found or roaming animal, a community post can help—but it should not be the only step. Netcong directs animal-control inquiries and reports through the Netcong Police Department, which coordinates major animal-control services with the Borough of Hopatcong.
For animal-control inquiries and reports, call Netcong Police at 973-347-8642.

Non-emergency: 973-347-7700
Netcong requires annual dog and cat licensing, with borough deadlines and late fees published through Borough Hall.
Marketplace safety
Use a well-lit public location when practical, especially when meeting someone you do not know.
Do not publish Social Security numbers, banking details, full identity documents or unnecessary private information.
For vehicles, electronics and higher-value items, confirm ownership and serial/title information before completing a transaction.
Be suspicious of overpayment checks, gift-card requests, cryptocurrency demands and buyers who insist on unusual refund arrangements.
Describe condition, defects, dimensions and other material facts accurately and use current photographs when a listing is posted.
Garage-sale permits, parking, signage, animal rules and other municipal requirements still apply even when an ad appears online.

Submitting a Netcong classified
A useful submission should include a concise title, category, accurate description, approximate Netcong location, asking price if applicable, and safe contact information. Garage-sale ads should include the sale date and hours after the borough permit has been obtained.
Include condition, size, quantity, model or other details that help another resident decide whether to contact you.
Submissions should have a genuine connection to Netcong or the immediate surrounding area.
Once an item is sold, found or no longer available, request removal so the marketplace remains current.
