Bedminster combines rural roads, preserved landscapes, equestrian farms, established neighborhoods, The Hills residential community, Route 202/206 business districts and several historic village areas.

Communities within the township: Bedminster includes Bedminster, Pluckemin and Lamington, plus the Bedminster portion of Pottersville. Pottersville crosses municipal lines, so not every Pottersville address belongs to Bedminster Township.

Municipal neighbors: Bernards Township, Bridgewater Township, Far Hills and Peapack-Gladstone in Somerset County; Chester Township in Morris County; and Readington and Tewksbury townships in Hunterdon County.
