A local classifieds page works best when it contains genuine, current community submissions rather than filler listings. This page explains what belongs here, how listings should be written and where jobs, housing and commercial promotions belong instead.
Community marketplace categories
Local sale notices with date, general location and clear hours.
Reasonable requests for household goods, hobby items or local exchanges.
Lost pets, found property and neighborhood notices that do not reveal sensitive information.
Noncommercial local programs, volunteer requests, reunions and neighborhood notices.
Local tutoring, lessons and community education notices when appropriate and lawful.
Milestones, reunions, engagements and community announcements.
Lost/found pets and appropriate local pet notices; commercial breeders and sales may be restricted.
Submitting a classified
Listings should be truthful, local, lawful and specific enough to be useful. NJTGO can decline submissions that are misleading, unsafe, commercial in nature or better suited to another section.
- Use a clear title and concise description.
- State Carneys Point, Penns Grove or the nearby pickup area.
- Include a reasonable price or “free” when appropriate.
- Use a safe contact method and avoid sensitive personal data.
- Remove the listing promptly when it is no longer current.
- Commercial businesses should use NJTGO Advertising instead.

BusinessSafer local transactions
Use a public, well-lit location when practical and tell someone where you are going.
Never share passwords, verification codes, banking credentials or unnecessary identity documents.
Be cautious with overpayments, gift-card requests, fake checks and pressure to send money before seeing an item.
For physical goods, verify condition and ownership before completing the transaction.
Unsuitable or prohibited listings
NJTGO is not a marketplace for illegal goods, weapons, controlled substances, stolen or counterfeit property, dangerous materials, fraudulent schemes, explicit sexual services or other unlawful/high-risk transactions. Housing notices must comply with applicable fair-housing requirements.
Commercial promotion is separate from classifieds
Local businesses, restaurants, real-estate professionals and employers should use NJTGO's dedicated commercial pages and enhanced advertising options.
