Harrington Park history
The Harrington name is connected to the Haring family, early settlers in the broader region that became Harrington Township and later several separate municipalities.
Harrington Park was incorporated on March 29, 1904 from portions of Harrington Township, Washington Township and Closter.
The community developed primarily as a low-scale residential suburb while retaining local institutions, volunteer organizations and municipal recreation space.
Harrington Park remains closely tied to neighboring Northern Valley towns through schools, recreation, transportation and shared regional services.
