History & Local Character
Holland Township was created from Alexandria Township in 1874, briefly remerged, and became a separate municipality again in 1879. Milford Borough later separated from Holland in 1911. Agriculture, river access and the Riegel paper-industry era all helped shape the community.

The Riegel Ridge Community Center dates to the paper-company era and remains an active civic and recreation hub. The township's landscape still reflects its mix of industrial history, farms and preserved open space.
Community Life
Holland has an unusually visible working-farm network, including dairy, produce, honey, seasonal farms and farm stands.
Local civic life includes the Holland Township Women's Club, scouting, Lions activities, recreation programs and volunteer emergency services.
Local congregations include Holland Presbyterian Church, Holland Bible Church, Shepherd of the Valley Church and First Presbyterian Church of Alexandria.
