Milford grew around mills and river commerce on the Delaware and became a borough in 1911. Today its small footprint combines an intact historic center, a walkable Bridge Street business district, residential neighborhoods and immediate access to the river.

Historic Milford
The district was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in April 2025, recognizing Milford's development as a river, milling, transportation and industrial community.
The borough's main commercial street links downtown directly to the Delaware River crossing and preserves the scale and character of a traditional river village.
The 1933 steel truss bridge at Bridge Street stands on earlier stone piers and connects Milford with Upper Black Eddy, Pennsylvania.
Riverfront & recreation
The river is central to Milford's scenery and history. Visitors can enjoy river views from the borough and reach regional fishing, paddling and trail destinations nearby.
The Thomas F. Breden Preserve at Milford Bluffs is a major nearby natural attraction, but it is physically in Holland Township rather than Milford Borough.
Bridge Street, Water Street and adjoining residential blocks make the borough easy to explore on foot, with shops, restaurants, historic buildings and the bridge close together.
Community life
The annual downtown festival brings live entertainment, vendors, community activities and the borough's traditional bed races to Bridge Street.
