Best for visitors focused on the Atlantic. Ask about the exact beach-access street, walking distance, parking and whether beach chairs, umbrellas or carts are provided.
Visiting & Lodging in Normandy Beach
Normandy Beach is a classic family shore destination built around vacation homes rather than hotels. Rent a house for the week, walk or bike to the Atlantic, spend time at the NBIA Bay Beach, enroll children in Bay Beach Camp, sail on Barnegat Bay, and use Route 35 for restaurants, markets and everyday shore needs.
What a Normandy Beach Stay Is Like
Normandy Beach is primarily residential, with a strong seasonal rhythm shaped by homeowners, returning summer families and weekly vacation rentals. There is no large hotel district inside the community. Most visitors stay in privately owned houses ranging from smaller beach cottages to large multi-bedroom homes and waterfront properties.
The community is unusually rich in recreation for its size. NBIA operates ocean and bay beaches, Bay Beach Camp, tennis and pickleball programs, basketball and summer events, while Normandy Beach Yacht Club provides a separate sailing and social tradition on Barnegat Bay.
Normandy Beach Vacation Rentals
Vacation houses are the core lodging choice in Normandy Beach. Current 2026 rental inventories include substantial ocean-side, interior and family properties, including multi-bedroom homes on Ocean Terrace, 4th Avenue and Normandy Way.
Interior streets can offer easy access to both ocean and bay recreation while keeping guests close to NBIA activities and Route 35 businesses.
Homes closer to Barnegat Bay appeal to families who value sunsets, paddling, boating and the Bay Beach area.
Current 2026 rental inventory includes homes with five and eight bedrooms, reinforcing Normandy Beach's role as a destination for extended-family and multi-household shore vacations.

Ocean & Bay Beaches
NBIA lists summer ocean bathing hours as 10:00 AM–5:00 PM. Lifeguards are on duty seven days a week during bathing hours when weather and sea conditions permit. Guarded swimming areas are marked by flags near the lifeguard stands.
The NBIA Bay Beach swimming area is between the street ends of 6th and 7th Avenues. Swimming is allowed inside the roped area; diving and launching motorized craft from the Bay Beach are prohibited.
Surfboards are allowed at ocean beaches in lifeguard-approved areas when conditions permit. Surf fishing is also allowed during bathing hours only where designated by lifeguards.
No alcohol, glass, smoking, fires or overnight sleeping are permitted. Pets are prohibited on the beaches between June and September, and visitors must remain off protected dunes.
Beach Badges & Public Access
NBIA requires badges during bathing hours for everyone age 12 and older. Homeowner members receive badges through their membership, while public-access badges can be purchased at the Bay Beach House at Broad and Seventh Avenue.
Homeowner Guests
- Ask the property owner how beach badges are handled
- Confirm how many badges are included with the rental
- Do not assume every rental includes the same badge privileges
- Replace or additional badges may involve separate Association rules or costs
Public Visitors
- Public access is permitted under applicable New Jersey law
- Badges are required for age 12+ during bathing hours
- Badges can be purchased through the NBIA Bay Beach House
- Confirm current pricing directly with NBIA before travel
After-Hours Access
- NBIA rules limit general after-hours beach access
- Public tidal-area rights for walking, fishing and surfing remain subject to applicable law
- Follow posted beach entrances and dune restrictions
Bay Beach Camp
For families with children, Bay Beach Camp can be one of the biggest reasons to spend multiple weeks in Normandy Beach. The 2026 camp ran from June 22 through August 7, Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM–3:00 PM, for children ages 5–12.
Camp uses Normandy Beach's bay and ocean setting for swimming, beach activities and outdoor games.
Camp programming includes arts and crafts, organized games and scheduled tennis sessions for different age groups.
Current programming includes occasional trips to regional attractions such as Jenkinson's Aquarium, Casino Pier and Breakwater Beach.
NBIA includes lunch in camp tuition, although families managing allergies are advised to review food arrangements carefully.
Normandy Beach Yacht Club & Sailing
Normandy Beach Yacht Club adds a separate layer of Barnegat Bay activity to the community. Established in 1946, the club maintains sailing, social and youth programs for members.
The 2026 program serves sailors ages 8–18 and runs for eight weeks from June 29 through August 10, with half-day instruction Monday through Thursday.
The Junior Sailing program uses Optimist Prams, Lasers and Club 420s to teach skills at different experience levels.
NBYC also maintains adult sailing, racing and a broader sailing calendar alongside youth instruction.
The Yacht Club maintains a member social calendar, food service and a seasonal Ship Store in addition to sailing activities.
Tennis, Pickleball, Basketball & Summer Events
NBIA's 2026 Har-Tru tennis program operates daily, weather permitting. Separate tennis membership, tenant rates and guest rules apply.
NBIA schedules open-play periods, clinics and private matches on shared courts during the summer season.
Open-play basketball periods give families another activity away from the ocean and bay.
Free Sunday evening concerts at the Bay Beach House are part of the community's summer social calendar, with guests welcome under current event guidance.

Toms River vs. Brick Rental Rules
Normandy Beach is one recognizable community but spans two municipalities. Visitors normally deal with the owner or rental agent rather than municipal paperwork, but understanding the split is useful when evaluating whether a rental is properly registered.
- Barrier-island seasonal/short-term certificates are valid April 1–November 30 under current Township guidance
- Seasonal/short-term rentals are not permitted outside that period
- Rental/Landlord Registration numbers must appear on advertisements
- Occupancy is established through the Rental Certificate of Inspection
- Brick Township requirements apply instead of Toms River rules
- Visitors should not assume the April–November Toms River rule applies to a Brick-side address
- Owners should maintain current Brick registration, inspection and code compliance as applicable
- Renters can ask the owner or agent to confirm the home's current municipal compliance
Nearby Inns & Motels
