North Caldwell Public Schools operates the borough's K–6 district, including Grandview School and Gould School. Students in grades 7 and 8 attend West Essex Middle School, followed by West Essex High School for grades 9 through 12. North Caldwell developed from the historic Horseneck tract, became part of Caldwell Township in 1798 and was incorporated as North Caldwell in 1898.
