Branchville is a small borough surrounded by Frankford Township. Its downtown is concentrated around Main, Broad, Wantage, Mill and Newton avenues, with a mix of local shops, services, food destinations and longstanding employers.

Branchville at a glance

Historic village center

Branchville developed as a mill and mercantile center. The Sussex Railroad reached the borough in 1869, strengthening local commerce and bringing visitors toward the lake country. Passenger service ended in 1966.

Recreation gateway

The borough maintains tennis and pickleball courts and ball fields. Stokes State Forest, Buttermilk Falls, the Delaware Water Gap, the Sussex County Fairgrounds and other regional attractions are nearby but outside the borough.

Community & worship

First Presbyterian Church of Branchville

3–5 Wantage Avenue. The congregation dates to 1848; the present church was dedicated in the 1850s. Community programs include a food pantry and thrift shop.

8 Broad Street. The church building dates to 1879 and remains part of the borough's historic streetscape.
