About Franklin Township
Franklin Township was incorporated in 1845 from part of Kingwood Township. Its history is closely tied to Quaker settlement, agriculture and the villages of Quakertown and Pittstown. The Capoolong Creek helped support early mills and settlement, while the township's road network still follows a landscape of farms, wooded hills and historic crossroads.
Today Franklin remains predominantly rural, but it also contains a major commercial node at Walmart Plaza near I-78. That shopping center uses a Clinton mailing address while physically sitting in Franklin Township—a good example of why municipal-boundary checks matter here.
