Alloway Township, New Jersey
Alloway Township is a rural Salem County community of farmland, woods, small hamlets and the historic village of Alloway. The township covers about 33.5 square miles of land but had only 3,283 residents in the 2020 Census, giving it a distinctly open, agricultural character.
Its history reaches back to a 1767 royal charter as Upper Alloways Creek Township. The municipality was incorporated in 1798, and the Alloway Township name dates to 1884. Agriculture remains central to the landscape, while Alloway Lake, Holly Hills Nature Preserve and local history provide quiet recreation and visitor interest.

Alloway's landscape still reflects longstanding agricultural settlement patterns, with farms, rural roads and large tracts of open land surrounding the village center.
South and North Greenwich Street, Main Street and nearby Telegraph Road form the township's most recognizable village and commercial cluster.
The Alloway History Museum occupies Room 216 of the municipal building and is scheduled to open on the last Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon.
Ranch Hope, Strang School and Camp Edge form a significant nonprofit, educational and employment presence in the township.
