About Bloomingdale
Bloomingdale became an independent borough on February 23, 1918, when the former Pompton Township was divided. Long before incorporation, the area developed around farming, ironworking and the Paterson-Hamburg Turnpike. The Bloomingdale Forge was established in the colonial era to use local iron resources.
Today the borough combines a traditional Main Street core with lake neighborhoods, wooded Highlands terrain and extensive preserved land. Parts of Norvin Green State Forest lie within Bloomingdale.

Passaic County acquired roughly 101 acres in Bloomingdale in 2025 for a future county park with trails, natural areas and recreation programming.
Lake Iosco & Neighborhood Lakes
Lake access and boating rights vary by lake and association, so visitors should respect private-property rules.
Trail and lake safety: Norvin Green terrain can be steep and rocky, regulated hunting occurs in designated state-forest areas, and neighborhood lake access is not automatically public.
