About Clayton
Clayton developed from the community once known as Fislertown and grew around South Jersey's glassmaking industry. Clayton Township was created in 1858 from Franklin Township, and the Borough of Clayton was incorporated in 1887. The borough today is a residential and commercial community with its civic core along Delsea Drive and a strong network of parks, youth sports and public services.
