Dunellen, New Jersey
Dunellen is a compact Middlesex County borough built around its railroad station and walkable North Avenue downtown. The borough mixes established residential neighborhoods with independent restaurants and shops, community parks, schools and continuing transit-oriented redevelopment near the station.

Dunellen's identity is closely tied to the railroad. The NJ Transit station serves the Raritan Valley Line and sits immediately beside the North Avenue downtown, making the borough unusually walkable for a small suburban community.
NJ Transit Raritan Valley Line service, ticket vending, commuter parking and bicycle racks connect Dunellen to larger regional job and travel markets.
Dunellen received New Jersey Transit Village designation in 2012, reflecting the borough's long-running focus on walkable development around the station.
The Nell and The Crossing at Dunellen Station have already reshaped the downtown, while additional mixed-use redevelopment remains active along North Avenue.
