About Flemington

Flemington is a compact borough near the geographic center of Hunterdon County and is completely surrounded by Raritan Township. Main Street is the historic commercial core, with neighborhoods, civic buildings and smaller business districts radiating toward Route 12, Route 31, Reaville Avenue and Stangl Road.

Samuel Fleming settled here in the eighteenth century, and Flemington became the Hunterdon County seat in the 1790s. The borough is nationally associated with the 1935 Lindbergh kidnapping trial and is especially notable for the concentration of eighteenth-, nineteenth- and early twentieth-century architecture in and around its historic district.
