About Franklin Township
Franklin Township is a large rural municipality in southeastern Gloucester County, roughly midway between Philadelphia and Atlantic City. Nearly half of its land is devoted to agriculture, much of the rest is forested, and roughly one-third of the township lies within the Pinelands National Reserve. Franklinville and Malaga are the best-known communities, with Iona and other rural neighborhoods spread across the township.
The township was incorporated in 1820 and today combines farms, lakes, wooded open space, residential neighborhoods and several active commercial corridors along Delsea Drive (Route 47), Harding Highway (Route 40) and local crossroads.
Postal-address note: Franklin Township businesses may carry Franklinville, Malaga, Newfield, Williamstown, Vineland or Monroeville mailing addresses. NJTGO uses municipal location—not the postal city alone—to determine whether a listing belongs in Franklin Township. Newfield Borough itself is a separate municipality.
