About Haledon
Haledon was incorporated in 1908 after separating from the Oldham section of Manchester Township. The borough became especially important in American labor history during the 1913 Paterson Silk Strike, when striking workers gathered at the home of Pietro and Maria Botto.

American Labor Museum / Botto House

The Pietro and Maria Botto House served as a gathering place during the 1913 Paterson Silk Strike and now interprets immigration, working-class life and organized labor. Public hours are generally Wednesday–Saturday, 1–4 PM, with appointments also available.

Haledon's nationally important labor story is inseparable from Paterson's silk industry. Thousands of striking workers gathered around the Botto home to hear labor speakers and organize.
