About Hillsborough
Hillsborough Township was created by Royal Charter in 1771 and covers a large section of southern Somerset County. Its landscape ranges from the Route 206 town center and established residential neighborhoods to the Sourland Mountain, working farms, historic crossroads and the Millstone River valley.
The township government describes Hillsborough as home to more than 43,000 people and more than 1,500 small businesses. Its central New Jersey location places it between the New York and Philadelphia metropolitan regions while preserving a distinctly suburban-rural character.
