Submitting a Ho-Ho-Kus classified
Provide a clear title, short description, appropriate price when applicable, general pickup area and a safe contact method.
Condition, size, quantity, age and known defects should be stated clearly for items being sold.
Avoid displaying home-access information, license plates, financial information, identity documents or other sensitive data.

Marketplace safety
For in-person exchanges, use a public, well-lit location when practical and avoid inviting strangers into a home unnecessarily.
Do not publish Social Security numbers, financial account details, passwords, private records or unnecessary home-access information.
Avoid unusual payment requests, overpayment schemes, gift-card demands and pressure to send money before seeing an item.
NJTGO can display a listing but does not inspect merchandise, guarantee buyers or sellers, authenticate items or act as an escrow service.
Scam warning: if a transaction feels rushed, unusually complicated or too good to be true, stop the exchange and verify the other party independently.
Items and listings not accepted
NJTGO may reject any listing that creates legal, safety, privacy or community concerns. Examples include:
Firearms, ammunition, explosives, prohibited weapons, hazardous chemicals and other dangerous regulated goods.
Illegal drugs, controlled substances, prescription medication, cannabis products, nicotine products and other regulated substances.
Items believed to be stolen, counterfeit merchandise, pirated media and goods that cannot lawfully be sold.
Prescription products, unsafe supplements, questionable medical devices or listings making deceptive health claims.
Sexually explicit material, exploitative services or other inappropriate adult listings.
Private personal data, doxxing, surveillance tools intended for unauthorized monitoring or listings targeting a person without consent.
