Lavallette is a compact shore borough between the Atlantic Ocean and Barnegat Bay, known for its family-oriented beaches, oceanfront boardwalk, bayfront recreation, walkable Grand Central Avenue businesses and strong seasonal rhythm.
The borough is its own municipality. Businesses farther north in Ocean Beach, Chadwick, Silver Beach and Normandy Beach may use a Lavallette mailing address but are not inside Lavallette Borough.

2026 Beach SeasonOfficial bathing season ran June 20 through September 7. Daily badges were $13; bayfront municipal parking stickers were $15.
Boardwalk ReconstructionThe borough began a multi-year boardwalk decking replacement program in fall 2026, starting at Dover Avenue and moving north several blocks per year as funding allows.
Route 35 PlanningLavallette is participating in a current Route 35 safety-improvement process with public input on the corridor.
Master Plan WorkThe Planning Board has been conducting 2026 master-plan reexamination workshops and community input.
Beach, Bay & Recreation
Ocean BeachesThe Beach Patrol supervises nine ocean beaches during the guarded season. Visitors should swim only at guarded locations and follow current flag conditions.
Bay BeachBrooklyn Avenue is the guarded bay bathing location, useful for families seeking calmer water conditions.
AccessibilityAccessible ocean entrances with mats are available at Trenton, New York, Philadelphia and President avenues, plus an accessible bay-water ramp at Reese Avenue.
Bayfront RecreationLavallette's bayfront includes playgrounds, basketball, bocce, shuffleboard, tennis, oversized checkers and other recreation areas.
