About Manville
Manville occupies roughly two and a half square miles in central Somerset County. Its compact street grid, Main Street businesses, schools, parks and neighborhood services give it a distinctly borough-scale character compared with the larger townships around it.
The community was historically part of Hillsborough Township. Industrial growth associated with the Johns-Manville company helped transform the area in the early twentieth century, and the borough was incorporated in 1929.
Municipal scope: NJTGO treats Manville Borough as its own municipality. Its actual adjoining municipalities are Bridgewater Township, Hillsborough Township and Franklin Township. Somerville, Bound Brook and South Bound Brook are nearby, but they do not share Manville's municipal boundary.

Main Street & Local Life
North and South Main Street form the borough's principal commercial spine. Within a short distance are independent restaurants, neighborhood services, banks, personal-care businesses, automotive shops and the Marketplace at Manville retail center. The compact scale also makes it practical to combine errands, dining and community stops in one trip.
