About Readington Township
Readington's municipal history reaches back to 1730, when “Readings” Township was created by Royal Charter. The modern municipality became Readington Township in 1798. At roughly 48 square miles, it remains the largest township in Hunterdon County by land area and had 16,128 residents in the 2020 Census.
The township's identity is strongly tied to agriculture, open-space preservation and its smaller villages. Whitehouse Station is the principal village and commercial center, while Three Bridges, Whitehouse, Stanton and Readington retain distinct local character. U.S. Route 22 forms the main commercial spine, while U.S. Route 202, County Routes 523 and 629 and local roads connect the township's more rural areas.

White House Station
NJ Transit's Raritan Valley Line serves White House Station on Main Street. Service is oriented primarily to weekday peak-period commuting. The station includes parking and bicycle racks.
Road Connections
U.S. Routes 22 and 202 are the principal regional roads. I-78 is accessible just north of the township, while County Route 523 links many of Readington's villages and civic destinations.
