Classifieds & Community Marketplace

Riverdale Classifieds is designed for community-scale buying and selling, wanted and free items, garage and yard sales, local notices, lost-and-found posts, pet notices, lessons, roommate notices and celebrations.

Employment openings, full property advertising and recurring business promotion belong on Riverdale's dedicated Jobs, Real Estate and Business pages rather than in the general classifieds feed.

Celebrations

Engagements, weddings, anniversaries, births, milestones, reunions and other appropriate community announcements.

Garage & yard sales

NJTGO did not verify a current Riverdale ordinance stating that an ordinary private residential garage or yard sale requires a specific municipal garage-sale permit. That means this page does not invent a permit fee, annual limit or sale-duration rule.

Check Current Borough Rules

Before a sale, confirm any current signage, parking, noise, property-use or temporary-event rules with Borough Hall.

Keep Streets Clear

Do not block driveways, fire hydrants, sidewalks or traffic lanes. Be especially mindful on smaller residential streets and streets with permit-parking rules.

Remove Signs Promptly

Temporary directional signs should never be placed where prohibited and should be removed immediately after the sale.

Permit-parking caution: Riverdale has adopted residential permit-parking rules for certain streets, with additional amendments in 2026. Garage-sale visitors should follow all posted parking restrictions rather than assuming every curb is available.
Borough of Riverdale

Official notices, bids & legal information

Riverdale maintains an official municipal notice system separate from community classifieds. The borough's notice portal includes current and archived employment notices, bids, requests for proposals, requests for qualifications and other official postings.

Official Notices

Municipal notices and other formal borough postings appear through the official Riverdale notice system.

Bids / RFP / RFQ

Procurement opportunities, license bids, professional-service requests and related government notices are published through official channels.

Meeting & Land-Use Notices

Mayor and Council, Planning/Zoning Board and other municipal notices are posted through the borough's government pages and archives.

NJTGO classifieds are not legal publication. A community notice appearing here does not replace any official borough, court, land-use, bidding or statutory publication requirement.

Marketplace & scam safety

Meet Safely

Use a well-lit public location when practical, particularly when meeting someone you do not know.

Protect Personal Information

Do not publish Social Security numbers, banking details, full identity documents or unnecessary private household information.

Verify Ownership

For vehicles, electronics and higher-value items, confirm ownership and serial/title information before completing a transaction.

Beware of Payment Scams

Be suspicious of overpayment checks, gift-card requests, cryptocurrency demands and buyers who insist on unusual refund arrangements.

Use Accurate Descriptions

Describe condition, defects, dimensions and other material facts accurately and use current photographs when a listing is posted.

Police / Court Impersonation

Do not send money to a caller claiming you must pay immediately to avoid arrest. Verify any law-enforcement claim independently.

Current Morris County scam warningRiverdale's municipal website is currently warning residents about callers impersonating the Morris County Sheriff's Office and claiming an arrest warrant exists for missed jury duty. The Sheriff's Office says law enforcement will not demand payment to avoid arrest or resolve a warrant.

What NJTGO classifieds will not accept

To keep the marketplace appropriate for a local town-guide audience, NJTGO may reject, edit or remove listings that are unsafe, unlawful, deceptive or better suited to another section.

Use the right NJTGO section. Businesses belong on Business & Shopping, employment openings belong on Jobs, and homes, apartments and property advertising belong on Real Estate.
