Important Municipal-Boundary Note for Job Seekers
Many major employers use Salem, NJ 08079 as a mailing address but are outside Salem City. For example, the hospital/medical complex on Route 45 is in Mannington Township, while several auto, dining and service businesses on outer Salem-Quinton Road are in Quinton Township.
Those employers can still be excellent nearby job targets, but NJTGO keeps them separate so a “Salem City” employer list remains geographically accurate.
Regional Search Strategy
- Search Salem City, but also expand to Mannington, Quinton, Pennsville, Carneys Point, Penns Grove, Woodstown/Pilesgrove and Lower Alloways Creek for realistic commuting options.
- Check municipal and county job pages directly; public-sector openings may not appear on every commercial job board.
- Small downtown businesses may hire by direct inquiry, referral or storefront posting rather than a large online recruiting system.
- Verify employer identity before sending Social Security, banking or other sensitive information.
- For seasonal or part-time work, restaurants, retail, recreation and community programs may have different hiring cycles than government and professional employers.
