History
From 1754 to 1798
Wantage was formed as a precinct from Newton Township in 1754 and incorporated as a township in 1798.
Sussex Borough
Part of Wantage was separated in 1891 to create Deckertown, which was renamed Sussex Borough in 1902. Wantage still completely surrounds the borough.
