Chatsworth and Woodland Township: Chatsworth is an unincorporated community within Woodland Township and is the mailing address used by much of the township. Some properties along Route 72 use a Vincentown mailing address despite being physically in Woodland. NJTGO checks the actual municipality rather than treating a postal city as the municipal boundary.

A Pine Barrens Township

Woodland is entirely within the Pinelands National Reserve. Its land-use pattern is unusually rural for New Jersey: large tracts of forest and preserved land, cranberry and blueberry agriculture, small residential clusters and a limited number of commercial properties along Routes 72, 532 and 563.

Chatsworth Village

The village around Routes 532 and 563 contains Town Hall, Chatsworth Elementary School, the White Horse Inn, the historical society, a church, cemetery, fire/EMS facilities and a small collection of local businesses.

Route 72 & Four Mile

Route 72 crosses the northern part of the township and begins at Four Mile Circle. A small group of highway businesses serves residents and shore-bound travelers.

Pinelands Protection

Large portions of Woodland fall within Pinelands Preservation, Special Agricultural Production and Pinelands Village management areas, making Pinelands review important for many land-use and development questions.

History, Chatsworth & the Blue Comet

Woodland Township was incorporated on March 7, 1866 from portions of Pemberton, Shamong, Southampton and Washington townships. Chatsworth grew as a Pine Barrens crossroads and railroad community. The township continues to highlight its connection to the Blue Comet, the Central Railroad of New Jersey passenger train that once linked Jersey City with Atlantic City.

Chatsworth Cranberry Festival

The annual Chatsworth Cranberry Festival is the township's signature public event. The 2026 festival is scheduled for Saturday, October 17 and Sunday, October 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., rain or shine, with a juried craft show, food vendors and live music.
