Borough recreation facilities include baseball and softball fields, basketball, playground and picnic areas, a pavilion, snack-bar facilities and other community recreation space.

The Borough operates a seasonal swimming pool and children's pool with resident and non-resident membership options plus published daily rates. Season dates and hours should be confirmed before visiting.

Many facilities are designed primarily for local recreation leagues and community use. Organized events can affect field access, parking and pavilion availability.

The Borough's 80-acre preserve has marked public trails through woods, streams, wetlands and rocky terrain. The trail system is open during daylight hours.

The Township park includes a paved trail network useful for easy walks, family outings and combining recreation with the Heritage Museum and canal site.

Washington sits between the Pohatcong ridges and the wider northwest New Jersey Highlands, making it an easy base for nearby hiking at Oxford Mountain, Jenny Jump State Forest and county open-space preserves.

Stay on marked public routes, respect posted hours and closures, carry out trash and avoid entering private land even when historic features are visible nearby.

The 1926 theatre is an important Borough landmark associated with silent film and vaudeville history. It is currently closed and listed as an endangered historic property, so treat it as an exterior architectural stop rather than an operating cinema.

Campsite seasons, pet rules, minimum stays and site availability vary. Use New Jersey State Parks' current reservation system rather than assuming walk-in availability.

Washington Borough's current parking system identifies six municipal lots: Midtown/Veterans Park, Borough Hall, Borough Hall Auxiliary, Vannatta, Broad Street and Borough Park.

The Borough continues to support free daytime parking. Always observe posted signs, event restrictions and temporary closures.

Several municipal lots require resident permits during overnight hours, and almost all Borough streets prohibit parking from 3–6 a.m. except Sundays and public holidays. Visitors should arrange overnight parking with their lodging property.

A public electric-vehicle charging station is located in the large downtown public parking area at 44 E Washington Avenue.

The Township park includes dedicated parking and restrooms, making it a straightforward base for the museum, paved walking trails and recreation facilities.

Downtown Washington is walkable, but Meadow Breeze, rural Township historic sites, golf and regional attractions are better reached by car.
