Local labor-market context
Watchung's 2026 Housing Element cites 4,989 jobs in the borough in the NJTPA's 2015 baseline and shows the local resident workforce concentrated in education/healthcare, manufacturing, professional services, finance/insurance/real estate and retail. The borough itself cautions that long-range employment projections can overstate likely local growth because Watchung has limited vacant land and infrastructure constraints.
Job-search checklist
- Use official employer career pages when possible; third-party postings can remain online after a job closes.
- Search the exact address. “Watchung” can appear in branch names for businesses that are physically in North Plainfield or another nearby municipality.
- For shopping-center jobs, search by both employer name and “Watchung, NJ 07069.”
- Never pay an employer or recruiter for a job offer, interview or equipment check.
- For regulated healthcare, education and public-safety roles, verify required licenses, background checks and certifications before applying.
