Safer local transactions
- Use a public, well-lit meeting place when practical.
- Never send gift cards, cryptocurrency or wire transfers to “verify” yourself or release an item.
- Be cautious of overpayment checks, courier stories and requests to return excess money.
- Do not publish Social Security numbers, banking details, access codes or identity-document images.
- For high-value items, keep a simple written record of the item, price and transaction.
- For immediate danger call 911; use current Watchung Police non-emergency resources for appropriate local concerns.
